Artist Statement/concept for The poem "Alone" by Edger Allen Poe
This poem inspired the portrait of the poet.The abstract shapes encompassing the figure compltely surrounded by shapes and color. The void of any identifiable objects I feel reflects the loneless he felt upon writing this. This portrait and use of line/shape and color express my empathy towards his perspective on seeing things in a very unique perspective that in turne can feel like being isolated from other individuals.
The first sentence moves me in ways I cannot express in words but rather in paintings I create and music i compose.
